At Dahabshiil, we are deeply committed to uplifting communities and celebrating the power of connection, culture, and identity. That’s why we were honoured to support a truly inspiring event that brought together a vibrant group of young Somali women for an evening dedicated to empowerment, sisterhood, and cultural pride.
From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was one of warmth and intention. Greeted with calming Matcha drinks and friendly faces, attendees were immediately welcomed into a space designed not just for enjoyment, but for growth, reflection, and meaningful dialogue. The evening was carefully curated to ensure everyone felt seen, heard, and celebrated.
One of the most impactful parts of the night came during the guided wellness session led by a professional psychologist. In today’s fast-paced world, carving out time to prioritise mental health and well-being is essential — especially for young women navigating the complexities of identity, community, and personal development. This powerful session allowed attendees to engage in honest reflection, offering tools for emotional resilience and self-confidence that we hope will continue to benefit them long after the event.
A moment that especially resonated with us at Dahabshiil was the Buranbur cultural session, beautifully led by the talented Canab Cuud. Buranbur, a traditional form of Somali poetry and dance performed by women, is a celebration of strength, beauty, and expression. Watching young women connect with their heritage through movement and verse was both moving and inspiring. It served as a powerful reminder of the richness of Somali culture and the importance of passing down traditions to future generations.
The evening unfolded with a delicious dinner and lively conversation, where bonds were formed and stories shared. A fun photo booth captured joyful memories, raffle prizes added an element of excitement, and the sound of Somali music filled the room as dancing took over — a celebration of life, culture, and community in its truest form. All of these special moments were documented by a professional photographer, ensuring the magic of the night will be remembered and cherished.
We at Dahabshiil are incredibly grateful to have played a small part in this unforgettable evening. It’s events like these that reflect our shared values — community, empowerment, and cultural pride. We thank the organisers for their trust and for creating a space where young women can shine, be themselves, and embrace both their individuality and their shared heritage.
Here’s to continued collaboration and even greater impact. Together, we look forward to building more spaces where confidence, culture, and community thrive.
